Starvation of Imagination

IMG_2736.JPG Kids are really missing a lot today. Parents are too busy to take time with them, many are unchurched, many are not well protected, many go untrained, and many have no idea how to exercise their imagination. It's really something to consider when you take yourself back to the day when you were a teen, or younger. I mean it was like...boring! Like, we didn't have, like, cable, or XBox, or texting! Seriously, a lot of girls really believe they would die if they didn't have a cellphone! No Facebook?, no iPods? Like, dude, what did you do when you were a kid??? There was a lot that I learned being a kid. The sad thing about it is, the generation that grew up without the technology we have today could never explain to the technological generation how enjoyable life really was! It was a time of innocence, a time of family...many kids don't know what that is. It was a day of integrity, and a day when people actually knew each other for real! It was a day when we actually had to learn how to write a book report legibly! If you actually lived in those days, wouldn't it be awesome to go back just for a day or two? Man, it would be like a vacation! if you tell the new generation that, they would look at you like you were from the planet Vulcan! Did you know that Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple said that his children have never owned an iPad? What was his reason? It wasn't healthy for their mental development...hmmmm. I think technology today is good. It is certainly a way we can get the gospel out more effectively, a way to reach people better, a way to get bills paid more effectively, etc. But it is also a very dangerous thing. Isn't it interesting the way Deuteronomy 4:9 is written? "Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;!" Beloved...we are forgetting what it's really all about. Unfortunately, in many cases, I'm afraid it's too late. Some of you may be thinking, "Well the why are you blogging?" Honestly, I've never wanted to, but I'm beginning to realize that there is still a great commission to tell the world about Jesus Christ, and people just aren't listening the way they used to. Insensitive men may say, "Well, that's their problem!" But sensible men will say, "We've got to make a way!" which person are you? There's a world that is dying and going to hell. One day, things will be fixed...but until then...FAN THE FLAME!
