My wife and I were having devotions yesterday, and we decided to look at the passage where our idea for VISION1615 comes from. We noticed verse three of Mark chapter 16 in particular, which says, "And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the sepulcher?" It verse four it goes on to say, "And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great."
There are some stones that God sees that we can move. We find an example of this in John 11:39 where Jesus says, "Take ye away the stone." God wants to work miracles; but often he cannot find someone who is willing to do their part to make way for the miracle to take place. There's a phrase in the Bible that comes to mind in these particular instances. "She hath done what she could." I see this in Mark 14:8.
But there are times when the stone is too great for us to roll away, and yet, there is still a job that needs to be done. The women were doing something that was customary. They were going to anoint the body of Jesus. But because of all the controversy and the envy of the Pharisees and their wicked plots, the way was barred from them to do what they came to do...or was it?
No matter what Satan, or any other person working on his behalf may try to do; if God wants something to be done, the way will be made. Revelation states this very clearly in verse eight of chapter three, "I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name."
There will be times when it seems that the plots of wicked men and the problems that come into our lives are huge stones that are so great that we cannot possibly roll them away...but God has already rolled it away for us. The only way that we will ever possibly know this, is if we continue to do what God has called us to do. If the women had not gone to the sepulcher because of an attitude of, "Well, no one will roll away the stone, we might as well not go," they would have never seen that indeed, no man can shut what God has opened for us.
When Joshua came to Jericho, it says in Joshua 6:1, "Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in." But I love what God says to Joshua in verse 2! "And the LORD said unto Joshua, SEE, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour."
I absolutely love that! When God opens a door, no one can shut it! So keep on! Fan that flame! Press on for the Lord! He's with you! Do what he says, and no rock will stand in your way!
