Matthew 7:13-14 says, "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." I am saddened to hear of so many Christians with a "burden for lost souls" do nothing but
talk talk talk about how
nobody's listening anymore, and
Jesus is comin' back soon, and how that door knocking thing just doesn't work anymore....My Christian friend that is
HOGWASH!
We
so abuse the verse about the strait and narrow that we neglect our call to upkeep the way for lost sinners! We have let weeds and thorns get in the way, and not only is it strait and narrow, but because of our neglect to point people to it, and to keep the way clear, it is even
unappealing when found! I am astounded at how many preachers, when I seek for advice, will say, "
OOOOOOH BROTHER...we tried that...*sniff*...and it just DIDN'T work." Or, "
Yes, brother, we tried the SAME thing a while back, and NOBODY...NOBODY showed up." Can I just say that
every time...
EVERYTIME I tried to do something that involved pointing people to the strait and narrow way to the cross, that it has
always worked?
SOMEBODY entered. You know, it's interesting, but isn't it amazing that the Bible says that the BROAD way is the way that leads to destruction, and one of the most
wicked streets ever to exist in this world is
Broadway in New York City? My friends, if the way that leads to destruction is keeping up with the times and adding more appeal to the world and doing all that it can to entice
as many as it can...
don't you think we ought to be doing all we can to draw as many to the strait and narrow as possible? We really need to rethink our strategy! To all the preachers who condemn email and internet...I seriously think that the Apostle Paul would label them as
foolish were he alive today. Oh beloved, the reason why fewer and fewer are getting saved today is not because the way to life is strait and narrow...
that has
always been the case! It's because we are neglecting to upkeep that way. Let's make it stand out as best we can today! Proclaim on the housetops, by phone, by internet, by tract, by door-to-door, by any means possible; let's tell the ones who cannot find it how to get there! And let's seek God's power in the matter! The way is still strait,
but there's still a way that leads to eternal life...and His name is JESUS!
